This collection includes Rilke's 1907 poem "Orpheus, Eurydice, Hermes," which was nominated for the title "Greatest Poem of the 20th Century," and Rilke's 1922 Sonnets to Orpheus, in their totality. It also includes a brief selection from Rilke's Duino Elegies (1922). This original English translation by Frank Scalambrino (2020) concludes with a look into the coherency of Rilke's poems to Orpheus by way of a discussion of their philosophical and mythical influences.
