And incidentally it is the most beautiful proof that Schnittke has left an oeuvre that is as melodic as it is beautifully sounding and rich in color.

It is not for nothing that Schnittke's elegant explorations of past styles caused almost as much trouble with the ruling powers of his Soviet homeland as his freethinking experiments with modern polystyle.

Together with the pianist Alexey Botvinov, Daniel Hope, who reports in the booklet text of an unforgettable encounter with the then legendary composer at the age of 15, presents a chamber music program of Schnittke full of creativity and energy.
