Jennifer Connelly and Ben Kingsley star in this US crime drama based on Andre Dubus III's novel. Massoud Amir Behrani (Kingsley), an Iranian immigrant living in California, becomes embroiled in a legal dispute with recovering drug addict Kathy (Connelly). The dispute concerns a house which Massoud has bought and which Kathy lost unfairly to the county.
Neither Kathy nor Massoud has broken the law, so they find themselves involved in a difficult moral dilemma, with tragic consequences.
