Positive psychology is a recent focus area within the field of psychology that explores what is positive, creative, and fulfilling in human behaviour. It is the scientific study of what people do right, from the beginning of the lifespan to the end and all phases in between. Positive psychology is the study of happiness. Psychology traditionally focused on dysfunction: people with mental illness or other psychological problems and how to treat them. Positive psychology, in contrast, is a relatively new field that examines how ordinary people can become happier and more fulfilled. Positive Psychology is unique in offering an accessible introduction to this emerging field of clinical psychology. The "positive" branch complements, with no intention to replace or ignore, the traditional areas of psychology. By adding an important emphasis to use the scientific method to study and determine positive human development, this area of psychology fits well with the investigation of how human development can falter Positive psychology has roots in the humanistic psychology of the 20th century, which focused heavily on happiness and fulfillment. As scientific psychology did not take its modern form until the late 19th century, earlier influences on positive psychology came primarily from philosophical and religious sources. We hope that the book will motivate the researchers to make new research proposals to explore the multidimensional field of positive psychology.
