This book should be considered as a geological fieldguide with main focus on the area around V¿¿stervik insoutheast Sweden. The V¿¿stervik Area mainly consistsof early Proterozoic rocks. Metasediments andmetavolcanites are intruded by granitoids and dykes,which had caused contact metamorphism andmigmatization. 20 locations have been chosen fromthis area. They present an overview on the differentand most common rock types as well as significantstructural phenomenon in the V¿¿stervik area. First,the reader gets a brief introduction to the geologyof the Baltic Shield. This is recommendable,especially for participants who are unfamiliar withthis topic. A detailed summary describes the geologyof the V¿¿stervik Area, followed by the description ofthe chosen locations. Afterwards one can choose fromthe suggested field trips or plan an individual tour. This guide is targeted at both geologists, as a basisfor their own field education, and non-geologists, asa tour guide for their hobby field trips, alike.
