Our abilities to hear and respond to various sounds in our surrounding have impacts virtually on every aspect of our lives. The level of the severity of the loss of the sense of hearing and the time of onset of the problem are very important issues twined to hearing impairment. Failure to properly hear sounds may lead to significant language complications which in turn affects the child's communication skills. A problem of communication brings about psychosocial hazards. This book, therefore, provides pragmatic study results on the psychosocial challenges deaf students face in the course of their lives in the family, school and other social settings. Such live encounters as peoples' negative attitudes, mistreatment by the hearing people, and society's lack of awareness about the potentials of the deaf are the focus areas this book thoroughly discusses. On top of that, the book sheds some light on the responsibilities and support provisions expected of parents, teachers, hearing people and professionals in the field of counseling on issues surrounding deafness and possible areas of intervention.
