Upon the one hundredth reincarnation of the Lotus empress, the dark god Kashmeru would send out his shadow army - Pishacha - to destroy the reborn empress, which in turn would bring about the collapse of the universe.



The world changed at the time of the Eradication. The New Asian Administration outlawed mages, forbidding any use of their powers. To protect her imprisoned family, Mayhara Guatama made a deal to surrender her mage status and pledge her life to the New Order.



Years have passed, the chaos from the upheaval long since settled. Or so Mayhara believed... until she receives a mysterious message from her past.



Mayhara is stunned to learn the empress has been reincarnated. The empress, unbeknownst to everyone but her family and their guru, had been kept in hiding to conceal her identity. Everyone else thought the empress had simply not yet been reborn. Her name is Naree, and her brother Jae pleads Mayhara for her help.



To make matters worse, the dark god Kashmeru has brainwashed Naree into joining his side of the war. According to the legend, the empress's blood is needed to release Kashmeru from his tomb, where he has been sealed. Kashmeru has vowed to destroy the world, bringing only his followers with him into a new world of his creation. Everyone else will perish.



Jae and Mayhara must seek out the other elite mages to stop the enemy and rescue the empress. But the enemy-and the government-is already on to their plan, as many of the elite mages are found murdered. With mage powers deemed illegal and a powerful shadow army out to destroy them, the elite mages must band together and carry out their mission under the radar.
