When writer and dancing enthusiast Andrea Bindereif discovered Argentine Tango in 2009, she found a true passion. A writer by trade, she began a tango website in 2015 and ventured forth to speak to the many members of the Tango community, including milongas organizers (tango dance events), teachers, musicians, competitors, social dancers, and more. To her surprise and delight, what she found was an energetic community happy to talk to her about their shared passion.


This is Tango is an inside look at the world of Tango, the world-wide phenomenon that began in the streets of Buenos Aires, Argentina over a hundred years ago. Engaging and varied, This is Tango explores this fascinating world of social dance scenes, musicians, and dancers from all types of interesting angles, from a piece on the bandoneon, an odd little instrument with an interesting and substantial history to an obscure Northern California town that became a tango travel destination.
