We are more than just a group of people that get together during holidays to eat.

We are intricate minds, we are a blend of melanin, we are children, parents, grandparents, spouses, etc, but above all we are one. We are a family, a village of people, and yes - each one is loved by all. Our differences should never separate us, but should be celebrated because that's what makes us magnificent. The celebration of love is always valid, and should be cherished because it can also be seen as a privilege.




So how do you celebrate your love when you're not around your loved ones? If I wanted a reminder of the love...how do I recall the memories? I decided to take on the project because this idea was bigger than me, it was something that could extend past my time. Sometime in the future my kids, your kids, their kids, will toast to happiness and merriment and take a sip of Auntie Ann's margaritas. They'll bake Mimi's fudge and brownies to share with their company, or whip up Ben's 7152 French toast for breakfast. Let's not forget the Ethiopian or Zambian cuisine when they entertain family or friends.




Of course I've added my own flair to the recipes, always to support with a few minor tweaks. I added all the notes, all the photos, the memories, and a few stories gathered and set in one book. A cookbook that can be past on with love, and can be used to recall, re-live, and to enjoy. IN MY KITCHEN is about remembering your loved ones through recipes, and honoring them through a meal. Creating this book brought me so much joy, I certainly hope it does the same for you.
