Contributor Bio: Shookman, Ellis ELLIS SHOOKMAN is Associate Professor of German at Dartmouth College. His previous books include Eighteenth-Century German Prose (1992), The Faces of Physiognomy (1993), Noble Lies, Slant Truths, Necessary Angels: Aspects of Fictionality in the Novels of Christoph Martin Wieland (1997), and Thomas Mann's Death in Venice: A Novella and Its Critics (2003). Contributor Bio: Wieland, Christoph Martin Christoph Martin Wieland (* 5. September 1733 in Oberholzheim bei Biberach an der Riss; 20. Januar 1813 in Weimar, Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach) war ein deutscher Dichter, Ubersetzer und Herausgeber zur Zeit der Aufklarung. William Shakespeare (getauft am 26. April 1564jul. in Stratford-upon-Avon; 23. Apriljul./ 3. Mai 1616greg. ebenda) war ein englischer Dramatiker, Lyriker und Schauspieler.
