Space Power Development: Theory and Organization explores the nature of space programs and how nations can maximize their advantages gained from space operations. The first chapter of the book draws from both military and economic theory to describe an original visual model of the multiple activities required to develop and employ space power--a nation's ability to operate in space. Subsequent chapters explore the implications of the model upon the history and organization of America's space program--particularly its military dimension. Finally, the later chapters investigate the rise of American naval power at the beginning of the twentieth century as a potential historical analogue to the current American situation in space and applies the model and history to propose a way forward for the United States to lead a new space age.
